⟢ IN HOMAGE TO AND CELEBRATION OF MY MOTHER'S 14TH YEAR IN HEAVEN ⟣
I wrote this just after my mother's passing and read it at her funeral service. In truth, I grew-up without a father and my mother was terribly abusive,
until I finally left home at sixteen and signed aboard the U.S. Navy
for four-years. Who knows what fate might’ve otherwise held.
Still, in her offbeat ways, she must surely have loved me.
Yet, this poem expresses how I felt about my mother,
not however her feelings might've been about me. Ah! But, as the olde folks say, "C'est la vie!"

This might be the most self-revealing authors note I've seen from you -- thank you for sharing & for trusting your heart into the care of your readers. I love your poem, especially V3 where you show us an example of what it looks like to see the best in another person, despite the worst that this person might've shown us (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You've truly touched my heart in a way few rarely have or dare to do … this requires a bit of "letting go", too, let's say.
True, my Author's Note speaks so much in an honest, open manner, and who better to thrust than those kindred spirits whom I believe will best understand and relate with like depth of spirit, feelings, and emotion … like You 🍂
Beautifully honest.loving and a tender and caring offering....
Well Done...touches this heart..

It's a nice day any day You come around.
How gratifying it always is when my reviewer lets me know we've connected. And, in the way you have, it lends a sense of personal understanding.
Thank you for your inspiring compliments, too, My Friend … with sincere thanks! ⁓ Richard 🍃
The love between a mother and her child is as deep and mystical as the ocean. Sometimes it may not seem so; circumstance, the various paths we choose, the indulgence of self; all in their way can cause the seeming destruction of that special bond. But it only ever fragments, never breaks, and if it ever did, then I warrant our species would cease to exist in the blink of an eye.
A poignant homage, that tells me you truly understand that such love is unbreakable.

You are truly a thoughtfully caring reviewer to share how deeply you've grasped the core essence of this poignantly sad piece.
Then, when you gift further with your own vibrant thoughts, there is a bright encouragement to keep my battered olde pen shined and at the ready.
Bless you for your always keen, treasured words of understanding, appreciation, and generosity.
With warmest grateful hugs! ⁓ Richard 🍃
This is so touching, sorry about the loss of your mother, I know how it feels to lose someone close to you. Half my family is gone already. This is nicely written.

What beautiful and thoughtful things you cared to say, dear poetess.
True, a mother is irreplaceable, no matter how harsh her treatment may have been, she's still the one and only mother, eh?
Bless and hold thee warmly in your loss of beloved family members … each to live-on in your lovely heart.
A wonderful weekend to you … smiles 'n hugs! ⁓ Richard 🍃
This is touching, sir.
Sometimes we don't know how good to have mother is until she's gone. That's when we'll begin to feel that part they've been filling up all these while.
Even if she is harsh, her role as a mother would always be there
Mothers are unique, They can't just love their children less.
