Unmetered Rhyming Quatrains

   E’er gently eternal ~

~---------~**~---------------------------------~

Last night, beside me

there you lay,

across the bed

in disarray.

I'd kissed your lips,

I must confess …

slipped-in beneath

thy evening dress.

In passion’s quest,

such beauty fair,

caressed your breasts

with tender care.

Imploring eyes

smiled up at me,

whisp’ring my name …

“I’m yours, I’m free.”

My heart, it sighed,

nightingales sang,

as all around

love's wind-chimes rang.

Still, when the morn

oped soft mine eyes,

remained sweet splendor

of thy thighs.

Stirring, I stretch’t

with arms spread wide …

your beguiling voice,

e’er gently ~ deep inside.

What took us to those fields,

where softened lovelight streams

through golden daffodils,

to stroll love’s lofty dreams?

Now, as I write, my olde pen smiles,

ink flowing warm and free …

pondering how, ’twas when we met,

your sweet love first touched me.

The sentiments and wording are beautiful. I had to read it twice, however, as the break in meter in the next to the last stanza really threw things off for me. This one stanza interrupts the fluidity of the poem for me. Other than that, it permeates like incense wafting in a room.

There is just nothing to critique in this tender touch. In jubilation, give freely of one's self. Beautifully worded, with the softest touch of heart filling emotions. Nothing more needs to be said...just felt.

beautiful ... very sensual ... easy flow (of course) the solidity of rhyme and Quatrains fits with the wildness of unmetered lovers ;) i especially appreciate those thighs remained as sterling in the morning after as they did in his minds eye to begin with ... thanks for sharing your cool way in poetry ... peace and joy!
