Turning a bad thing(experience) good is an art in itself - by looking at it from a completely different perspective and being accepting of life and its patterns. If we think carefully on the context of these wise words we will surely understand. Well illustrated here Sir!

Thanks for selecting another of my little efforts to read and review for me and, indeed, what encouragingly gratifying words you've left a hopeful bard.
How very happy it makes me to know you've enjoyed this rather naughty piece in homage to luck, and to know you love any part of it sets me nicely aglow.
Thank you again, and for the nice compliment, Dear Kesha ⁓ Richard 🍃
Prehaps it all comes down to fate :-) How unfair life can be huh? But what do I know! I can't even focus enough with this sonnet with that picture popping out at me! hehe

Yes, "perhaps", Susan 🍁
From my humble discernment, life is generally what we make of it, with the exceptions we all make out of unavoidable, often unfortunate, necessity.
Um-hm, THAT picture is a bit disconcerting to a lot of folk … LOL!
Big thank you HUG! ⁓ Richard 🍃
That's an interesting topic to write a sonnet on! I wouldn't completely agree that there isn't anything such as luck, but these things work in strange ways, in my opinion. Although I do find it funny when most people blame bad luck for their failures when they never really tried to work hard in the first place.
I came here to read and learn about giving the sonnet a try and got engrossed in the topic haha ;P but I love how you wrote this! Excelllently penned, Richard :))

It's so nice to find you here today … in fact, I've been thinking of you lately, wondering when we're gonna lick that Sonnet we started, that you were doing so good at. I'm guessing it's just about that time?
Ha-hahh! I have to agree with you about how losers tend to blame everything on bad luck, and who can convince them otherwise, eh?
This poem clearly illustrates why the Sonnet is such a versatile and powerful form … I can think of nothing poetical that will not fit perfectly into a Sonnet.
The offer still stands: Anytime you're ready, Fine Poetess, just let me know.
Thanks for such a splendid review! ⁓ Richard 🍃
I never understood luck... but i do understand presence without presence luck could be screaming its lungs out and posted on billboards and we would just walk by and hear white noise. I suppose i just defined luck didn't I :) its the things that are around us all of the time if we just opened are eyes and hearts to see... so in that case, I'm one lucky bunny (most often.) The flip side of luck is its perception from the outside. we see a guy that's got something... anything we may covet, and we say that's one lucky guy. but most often he just worked his tail off to get to that position. The random good fortune that's just the same mechanism as a thunderbolt strike just flip define. love the voice in this piece it is fun when an old style of write gets the modern voice and they meld so well in form and flow. thats the bunny's 4 cents (Adjusting for inflation)

Fortune, fate, kismet, karma, etc; comes to mind, but mostly it's the word "serendipity", because I consider luck to be mere chance, a fluke (if you will), sheer fortuity and haplessness.
Still, most like to believe there's genuine luck, whether it's good or bad, that it actually exists, and if one holds their mouth right, lives smart, good luck can come their way, or if wrongly and they lay their hat on the bed, or a black cat crosses their path, they walk beneath a ladder … well you know; bad stuff happens.
But, I'm not at all superstitious, and so long as I stay indoors on Friday the 13th, all will be okay.
Now, if one chooses to be an artist … well, that's another story altogether. ; )
Thanks, Robert, for reading me and sharing your always wise and interesting thoughts … I feel quite lucky to have You as a friend! ⁓ Richard 🍃
lovely rhyming poem...👍 good & bad luck is like a roulette wheel, a game of chance. ™
i agree with 'kitty' though in endeavouring to turn bad into good, & i also agree with 'relic' as to who gets which luck.

Life is a weird thing. I've seen the crappiest people get lucky and those that worked all their lives get nothing crapped on. Perhaps there are invisible waves in the air that help or heed us through the electrical connections in our bodies and brains. Where's Carl Sagan when you need him?
Interesting poem, Richard. As far as the pretty girl in the picture, I'm sure she thought the painter was rich, or powerful, or confident, or a bad boy...take your pick. :)

I'm as relatively sure as you're surely sure it would take Carl Sagan to help us unravel, explain, and solve the conundrums of good and bad luck. And, as you infer, "There really seems to be no rhyme nor reason to whom gets which, despite the kind of person it is on the receiving end.
There seems to be no justice when it comes to luck. It's, sort of, like the flu … it just does not discern or know anything about prejudicial selection.
If I were that "she" in the painting, I'd think/hope for all of the above you mentioned … LOL!
Ain't poetry fun, My Friend … thanks for a great review ⁓ Richard 🍃
