~ DÉJÃ VÜ ~

~ fate often returns us to loneliness ~

It seems as though

I've been here before

but

I know I haven't

It's just my mind that's old

and

I am here and now and alive

Waiting for someone new

who

can dust away the cobwebs of time

who

can light the cold silver lamp of infinity

to hot quick embraces

My soul is like ribbons in the wind

to catch an unknown eye

and

adorn someone's deserving desires

The corner where I stand

is dark and cold

but

the room is within my view

and

I can be passed by discreetly

No one knows my solitude

for

it is completely mine alone

but

I'm reminded constantly

of it's disadvantages

by

the world around me!

Tell it now

And tell it well,

Of the man who lives

In a constant hell

Where

there is no escape

to

anyone anywhere anytime

for

lack of heart

I hold no grudge now

for things that were then

I knew from the past

it was soon to end

felt like I'd been there before

but

I'm still breathing

and

I have all my fingers and all my toes

My conscience is

a slight bit colder now than before

still

I believe in someone somewhere

with a new one in their hand

to

attach tightly to my being

Thanks for my corner

the world was mine

and

slid through me

I am no longer surrounded

by a rose shimmer

only merciless gray

with

no entertainment

of

LIFE

Sometimes it seems as though

happiness never came my way enough

Too busy with other people

... I guess ...

I know my thoughts are

as thin as the air

and

my life only

as shallow as my mind

but

I do feel this way

and

if only for the moment …

I now “know”

I've been here before!

Hmmmm- returning to the turning of time entertained with the thoughts and truths transcending all levels to reach the here and now- what we feel when the space is wide and there’s nowhere to hide only in the shadows of your mind reminding you of your thoughts and choices - you alone have brought- words of wonder and great significance to life as it controls the many if the few-🌹

Love this part, thanking the corner that life gave to you, The world lets you live here on borrowed time, and you have time you needed to let go of and it came through when you weren't ready. I see this as a struggle that we all face....

Awesome write...

I have been thinking about deja vu a lot recently, as it has increased its occurrence in my life. Your poem touches on the inability to understand the feeling and eventually coming to the conclusion that, yes, you have been here/felt this feeling before. I really liked the line "sometimes it seems as though/happiness never came my way enough/too busy with other people. I really related with that line, and I feel as if many other people would as well.
Additionally the line that says "it's just my mind that is old" reminds me of a conversation I often have with my friends about deja vu. We like to think that deja vu comes from remembering experiences in your past life, and those who have older souls tend to have it more often. Maybe you and I are old souls, just as many writers seem to be. Thank you for sharing this poem!

The human condition we all share at some points in our own lives. That is ever present and can show up anytime. But also the inner compassion and love for oneself. To move beyond that dreaded moment in times. that pull you down and try to lock you up in chains again. From the inside. But determination, self-will and self-love win the day again.

Life has a way of repeating itself, even when faced with new and different experiences. We see 'life' through different lenses each time: how we manage these experiences is up to us. We can learn from them in the progression of lifes cycle or we can continue making the same mistakes oblivious to the effect they have on people. Many of us can so relate to this profound piece!

I might do better to review only your less-structured poems, like this one. It seems to me that your message is more distinct & original & expressive when you aren't focused on crafting some exacting poetic style. I know form is what you're famous for here, but maybe a teensy bit of ego gets in your way as you show off your many claims to "form fame" . . . with that said, of course I love this poem. I love the way you describe the title word as you start your poem & then loop back around to this concept. I love the way you pour out tones of loneliness, but not in a "poor me" way, rather with a reluctant acceptance. I have often felt these very things about my own lousy chances in the arena of love. You convey the way it feels so well (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This poem is filled with sadness. The reality is that life isn't a bunch of roses, that it can be lonely and unhappy for many people. How do you find happiness? By keeping life simple and looking for pleasure in the little things in life. Happiness is elusive. If you chase it, like a butterfly it will fly away. I enjoy the composition, the accompanying image is superb and the way you expressed your feelings.

Thank you for the read.
