Misunderstood! (resistant heart)

Quatrains in 8-count.

Misunderstood!

I know … life has mistreated you,

that yourself, you've locked deep inside.

I know, also, it is so true

I'll have to break through your hard pride.

It happened just the other day …

was when I held you in my arms,

told you I love you every way;

for, I was captured by your charms.

It was sadly misunderstood,

thought I was just out to con you.

Try as I might (your heart like wood),

you turned to ice in my arms, too.

Oh, won't you, please, see I'm in-love,

my heart is true and beating fast;

that all the stars there up above,

are telling you my love will last!

Regardless, that my soul is pure;

when it speaks each romantic word,

you'll never understand, I'm sure.

Misunderstood, I'm just not heard!

I'll not give-up; believe me, Dear,

I want you more than I can tell.

If you'll let me show you I care,

all of your doubts I will dispel.

To show you how sincere I am,

please, take this flower, if you would.

Kiss my lips warm, this is no scam;

love's no longer misunderstood!

it was the title of this particular poem that caught my eye while flicking through your work. i can very much identify with the female in this. it is hard to let go and trust after it has been abused. this is a lovely piece of work that will resonate with many people from both sides of the issue. you have a lovely flow to your words. well done ;) full marks

Not to denigrate the reward I sincerely feel from your praise and grasp of this poem's meaning(s) and essence you've correctly grasped and expressed, surely you, also, note this work has flow issues throughout, how simple and basic its inferences, how unsophisticated the poetic voice is overall, even with a few well-struck lines.
This is due to how little time I had to prepare it for the contest in which I entered.
Still, there is a certain charm and message about it I, too, must admit finding favor with.

I did note the flow issues but I wasn't as sure about how to go about explaining them and expressing ideas on how to improve them so I thought if best to just let it be; I was confident you would correct it anyhow.
