Purely, imagination at work … someone put something in my tea, because I awoke this morning, took the first sip of lapsang souchong, and "this" emerged from my pen. Where does this stuff come from … anyone know?
Constructive critique is always welcome! : )

A broad, sweeping poem and quite beautifully constructed. I very much enjoy rhyming poetry, and overall I prefer it to free verse, though so much of that is equally abundant in artistic expression.
Glad I discovered you on Writer's cafe.
Beccy.
PS. I love the sonnet form and have written several.

it is so very nice to find you again, to feel your presence ribboned softly, sweetly amongst the warming breaths from your soothing words of gently-appreciative applause.
A simple bard, it takes so very little to set my heart aglow … a kindness here and there, a little touch in the right way(s), from the right person.
Rhyming, un-rhyming, fast, slow, happy, sad … how very marvelous poetry can be, eh? : )
The English Sonnet was my first adventure into poetry, taught to me on my ninth birthday by my Aunt Kate, Poet Laureate of her college … how ecstatic I was, because I'd read several of hers and fell crazy in-love with the form, like the smitten lad I was, and I've been smitten ever since.
I have several Sonnets on here, any one of which you might find favor in, or you could take a gander at this'un, to tell if you like my style: http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/RichardJ/1544490/
There are more on here, too, Beccy, if you don't take to that one … if you've the mind to read any, that is.
I am enthralled to know you are "glad" to have discovered me on the Writer's Café, as I feel the same of You.
Thank you, M'lady, for you delightful review of my humble little effort! ⁓ Richard
A great write Richard.
Where this beautiful poem - or any of your others - come from is thee question... for if you could find the source, it could be exploited... I believe that it is just a part of you, coming through in the form of the written word. Like love, it is an essence that is intangible but sends ripples through the world. Now, the poem... the careful precision on the choice of words are seriously effective with their flow and rhymes. I love your use of the Universe - it really does represent not only the depth of love but also out lack of knowledge of it. "who knows it all is a sad fool"; those who believe they've discovered the truth behind love (and life) are truly a fool for believing so, and by doing so have condemned themselves to Ignorance and possibly affected their experiences of love thereafter.
Great write, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Richard,
I truly love this!!!! Especially the line about the person who knows it all being a "fool." It give the mind something to think about and ponder. You have yet again captured inward thoughts of human beings and put them into beautifully crafted prose. Amazing job!
Sincerely,
Gabi

I cannot express to you enough how pleased I am you've accepted my invitation to read this suite of Rhyming Couplets for me, for your praise, for your appreciated insights, and most definitely for how deftly the depths of your understanding allowed you to select that key line to expound upon.
I thank you again, Gabi, ever-so warmly … most grateful hugs to you! ⁓ Richard
Our minds can never conceive the vastness of the universe or how we connect to it all. We barely understand our connectivity within our own planet, but we are all entwined. You have said this in a way that makes me want to search for answers, yet not be discontent in the present. A great philosophical poem, Richard.

Once agaIn the promise of your words graces one of my humble pieces, gifting it credence and meanings it otherwise would never have garnered, and your praise is payment I relish and shall treasure beyond measure.

I love this thought! We've always been told that the universe is in us, but for the universe to be because of us is something even more beautiful, a point you've so expertly illustrated! You're writing is gorgeous - thank you for sharing!
And I like to think that when inspiration is strong and productive, it's the universe speaking through us, reminding us of things we've forgotten. :)

You are not only beautiful to look at, you've a most beautiful mind, and a highly intelligent and imaginative one, at that.
I cannot imagine a more gratifying review for this poem than yours, or a more wonderful feeling that that your praise and appreciation has blessed me with.
Your comments absolutely swept me away (into the stars?).
I'm convinced the universe speaks through You; no doubt … thank you, M'Dear! ⁓ Richard
Nice piece with a very true message. What we as men think and say we know, it is as small as we are, a black smug in the bigger scoop of things. If I think too hard about this great ideas, my head starts to hurt. Thanks for sharing a very lovely work.

So beautiful! I like how your work is connected to spirit. In this broad sense of the word. One line jumped out at me,
'yet what we know is minuscule
Who knows it all is a sad fool'
There is so much in this world we don't know. So much wonder to learn. Even though we can spend 20 years becoming an expert at something, only the smart ones know we still have so much to learn.
And overall, I hear the wonder of this beautiful universe we exist in, that who we are is not an accident.
I look forward to reading more of your work!

How mindful of you to select that line, as (for me) it is the one that gifts deepest meaning to this piece.
How my thoughts mirror your own, Jenn, is quite surprising; yet, pleasantly so.
Beginning, we know much of nothing; with every step, we climb a bit higher, and can see bit further than we could before, and so it goes until we each reach our apex of capability, our individual potential to perceive, to awaken, our own level of conscious ability.
See? Already, you inspire me to greater thinking, to delve deeper than before … your words speak a language of insightful intuition that appeals to my senses, almost intrinsically.
Gosh, Jenn … you've got me yakking away like a magpie … I'm enjoying myself, too. : )
Oh, yes! Please, read more of my humble work. I will be so proud and pleased to know you want to and have, Jenn; you sincerely gratify and inspire me, obviously (just look at all I wrote … LOL!).
Big HUG of thanks to You! ⁓ Richard
Beautiful! As Carl Sagan said, "The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff."
This poem makes me think of his quote.what we think we know of the universe and what we actually know are so vastly different. We are all insignificant yet amazing. The meaning of life is to live it. We are made of star stuff, so shine on.
Beautifully penned, as usual. Your poems are like pieces of your soul that reach out and grasp the reader. Leaving them a little better than how they started out.

Now, you've really touched me with the mention of Carl Sagan, one of my all-time favorite individuals; his Cosmos series, huge number os articles, papers, and books on every aspect of astrological science and science fiction have endeared him in my mind for all time (well, for all my time).
Yes, I do believe we are made of "starstuff", Katie … so aptly put.
Quote: "The meaning of life is to live it." How marvelously wonderful the depth and meaning that one statement holds, Katie.
Your appreciation and praise of my humble poetic efforts effect me far more than you might realize, setting my being aglow from the inside-out.
How you so bless me … hugs, Katie! ⁓ Richard

I love this...we are the very essence of the macrocosm/microcosm in all existence. It is expressed so well here...there is nowhere that my mind stops...the poetry just flows beautifully. We know nothing...yet somewhere inside...maybe we know a lot more then we could ever imagine. Either way, your poetry is very thought provoking.
