~ Lonely Boy ~ Once, there was a boy quite good,
who had no love, but knew he should. 🌿 No love had the "Lonely Boy" 🌿 She'd found him …
kisses softly brought him joy,
unlocked the heart of the "Lonely Boy" 🌿 She taught him faithfully;
then, set him free;
no love to her, just another spree. 🌿 Tho' time slips by,
some hearts won’t mend;
his love burned true until the end. 🌿 So, he died a "Lonely Boy" 🌿 His epitaph was written in
the stars above that shine: 🌿 She said, "I would have loved him
… IF …
I'd only had the time!"
this poem kinda reminds me of how society is now. Everybody is so fixed on themselves and being busy, they don't stop to appreciate things around them. American society has this wave of Microwave mentality that corrupts compassion because it convinces people they have no time for anything. "If only I had the time," expresses to me she saw no use in giving her time. How despicable, but I wonder how many people are guilty of being this way, but won't admit it.
Thought provoking write.
Thanks for posting!

To often: too late sometimes we look back and say,'if ...only!' But then why wallow in regrets? as Edith Piaff once said, 'No regrets, let there be no regrets...' Let nature and destiny take its course. Life must go on ... and we are sorry! Todays existence demands so much of our time... or we tend to take on more than we can reasonably manage ...I know i do!

no one dies "unloved", even that Lonely Boy, even if some don't recognize it, as Your poem have said it from behind the sentences, sometimes we don't need love, but care and attention, and in love, these aspects are surely there, that boy needed those most, and had been attached strongly to her because it seems she was his first one to give him attention, and his feelings of love to bloom, what I might be not agreeing too, is the last verse, because there must be no "IF", if means doubt, means conditions, and if she was loving him with pity, that's NOT love, I think You didn't capitalized "IF" randomly, but purposely, that in Love, there is no if, and there is no time... time is only "here and now".
From the purness of innocence, and from the gentleness of the young heart, simply written, yet deep, tender and profound meanings.

What a most wonderfully gratifying and insightful review you've gifted this poignant little suite of Free Style verse.
You always seem to grasp the essence of whatever my olde pen composes, and that says a lot more than for most.
The "IF", of course, is to confirm the coldness of her own heart for taking from him, but never giving in return … even when he was dying.

I liked this very much. Made me think how much we miss because we feel we haven't got the time.

You really make poetry a fulfilling and joyful experience of sharing.
many do not realize that poetry is about form and and how it is presented; if the form is befitting that which the poet feels and wishes to express to others upon the page, it is akin to a musical note, rhythm, flow, and beat that harmoniously expresses mood and feeling, in such a way it can be heard and felt by others, and reading inspires the same to the mind's-eye.
Thank you with my poet's heart, Yumna, for your praise and enjoyment of my humble efforts! ⁓ RJ : )
