BALLAD, in 8/6/8/6 count, rhyme-scheme: abcb, defe, etc; in iambic meter.
This, Our Love ~ ~---------------------------------~**~---------------------------------~ When Earth, She spoke, 'twas then I knew
I'd ne'er be as before;
for, in Her voice a gentle tone,
"Come lie upon My shore!
Learn from the waves that lap My sand,
caressing deep the beach;
shhh! As you watch, so softly hear
life's primal mating breach ...
as brushing soft, hushed sighing sand,
passion in its motion,
relents, as rivers always do,
flowing to their ocean.
Unto the sky uplift your face,
see there life's wings in flight,
learn then what flying truly means,
come soar with me tonight.
We'll traverse 'cross vast oceans wide,
broach mountains high above,
and bed 'longside bright silver streams,
teach starlings how to love.
Then, when we're spent, the grass will wave,
with flowers dancing, too;
as willing breezes witnessed all
of lovers wedding true."
I listened well, the breath of me
She took into Her soul,
and when exhaled the seed of life,
it made us one and whole.
"O' wean me, Winter, to Spring's breast,
ere Summer's fields grow bold;
A beautiful, well chosen image that compliments the poem to perfection. A brilliantly crafted and beautiful celebration of life and the movement of nature and the seasons through existence.I loved the verse beginning "unto the sky..." with its invitation to "learn what life truly means" Great work

It is ever a pleasure to receive such an inspiring and gratifying review from one as accomplished as you are, my friend.
Your praise and grasp of the essence this piece portrays makes writing and sharing a truly blessed event.
The verse you've highlighted (I think) expresses the deeper meaning of this piece; it is, also, one of my favorite … and, I must heartily agree with your assessment of the picture, too.
A fine review, George … I humbly bow! ⁓ Richard : )

It is a pleasure to have you visit my pages, selecting this verse in deep expression of Nature, when combined with human love, and to receive your input of recognition for my humble efforts.
Yes, I understand your meaning, Sir … the strong emotion in this sort of structured poem is not meant to be derived from the poem, itself; but, rather from that which dwells in the imaginings of each reader's own heart, soul, and mind to be inspired in their own way by the imagery of word choices and flow.
One reader might be drawn in one way, while another will be entirely affected in whatever manner the moment of the piece means to them.
Here is a new one, "Eternal Spring, Beloved~Sweetheart" you might find more of that "strong emotion" you might be able to "feel". Copy/Paste the following URL address in your browser's search bar: http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/RichardJ/1717064/
I hope you'll read it and find a greater sense in satisfaction of strong emotion.
Thank you most gratefully, My Friend! ⁓ Richard
Vivid images of nature flow with class of life and love. The Rythm of this makes your words spring off the page ! You have painted scenes of all the seasons of romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this and look foward to reading more of your stuff.

I thank you ever-so warmly and gratefully for selecting this endearing little Ballad of love to read and enjoy, and most certainly for your inspiring words of praise and appreciation; what higher gratification could a hopeful bard wish for from a fellow-poet … than these.
Please, read all of my "stuff" you might feel drawn to! ⁓ Richard
Magnificent! You've woven nature, sexuality, and spirituality into a single fabric-- and like all poems that actually work,, it takes one out of oneself for a moment: a bit of true magic.

The scenes you paint in the minds' eye are truly breathtaking. You make it so easy to see and feel the love that you want to share. I think, perhaps, the love you need to share and so unselfishly.

The rhythm and rhyme of your words are flawless. The words dance on the page. The personification of Mother Nature is stunning. The imagery is rich. There is a romantic thread running through each stanza. Just a joy to read. Lydi**

How deeply gratifying and pleasing to the sense, M'Lady, such sentiments radiate from your words, literally rising up off the page … a'flow with the rhythm of my pulse-beat.
I genuinely hope your "joy" was half of mine ~ derived from your enthralling review, Dear Lady-Poet; for, if it were so, I am a truly happy bard … cozy thank you hugs, Lydi! ⁓ Richard
I've came here from reading your poem "Behind closed eyes" and I'm glad that I did; it's another beautiful poem. The ease in which you write is as if you've been around as long as language itself and mastered all its forms. Continue to write and I'm confident your words will be read and loved.

Such praise and appreciation as yours assures me my efforts have proven worthwhile, inspiring my humble olde pen to dance in my fingers to write another.
Most all the lines in this piece are composed in "iambic beat" … it is this poetic flow that gives a reader the sensation of "ease in which I write".

Love and passion seems to be as prevalent as icing on the Christmas cake right now... maybe tis the Good will add Joy wished all the time, maybe it's because it's a retrospective time when people look back and forth and realise what they've lost.. and, more so, what they've found.
Your words are beautifully laid, Lake poets, eat your hearts out!
