Beautifully written, expressing perfectly the continuity of love. Separation by distance or death, it matters not...for love is kept safely within every memory and moment. At our weakest, or even at times of achievement...we need the connection to our love. Unbeknownst to us, as we share our lives with one another...our senses are creating a collection of memories for our hearts...promising that we shall never truly be alone. Our senses are the keepers and dispensers of creativity...to allow for our loves and lives to be eternal, through art, poetry and song. I am impressed, always, by the depth of your words. Thank you for sharing...
Soft smiles for you...

No one interprets and feels my poetry like you do, Dear Ahnjolie … and as much as they honor and gratify my humble efforts, it certainly is not expressed with your level of eloquence and clarity.
Your interpretation of "love" is tangible, almost intuitive in depth of perceptive grasp … it's as though you are imbued by love's essence, or you breath it.
In-any-event, there is no doubt you fully and completely fathom every nuance and facet of these two ethereally romantic sonnets.
As I, too, Ahnjolie, am {obviously} impressed by the depth and grace of your own words … humbly, most gratefully and warmly, I bow with great thanks to Thee! ⁓ Richard
Very nicely done,
speaks of more universal love
and earthly, spiritual truths.

After receiving such an inspiring, gracious, and appreciative review, it is a great pleasure to have served you you with poetical enjoyment.
Your take on this piece, indeed, rewards an olde bard for his earnest labors.
The best to you, Dear Poet … thank you truly! ⁓ Richard : )
As you have Mentioned the details make all the difference. The sonnet is beautifully staged.
The sonnet itself is outstanding! Shakespeare would be proud! The message is so heart warming and it speaks of love in a way that speaks true over all generations even though it's in a style of past...the imagery is divine and I want to read it again and again to make it last!
It's one of those reads that warms the soul! Well done as always! You have a talent and ability to write in so many different styles! It's inspiring and encourages and reminds me to challenge myself. LOVE THIS ONE!

Since meeting and getting to know you more deeply, there are many things I have come to revere and admire about you, among them your keen knack of being able to understand and feel others through their writings … and, this requires a certain ability few have, to get outside of themselves and into the other guy, thus, I think this allows you to call on a genuine sense of compassion and empathy … love, tenderness, and heartfelt moments, too, in a depth not many can.
I've said this to you before, if you'll recall, "A truly accomplished poet should be able to compose equally well in any form set before them, if they simply allow the mind, heart, spirituality, and emotion of their pen have its way, because, once the form of any poem is learned, the rest is all that's required.
I truly hope you will read this lovely piece again, Tabby, because I see a lot of your own mind, heart, understanding, and depth for appreciation in it … I think it could have well been composed for You.
Thank you most warmly and gratefully, Tabby! ⁓ Richard : )

Lovely message in this double sonnet. Very classical in content and execution. I also like the underlying theme that love is always with you and part of you. It stays alive through thought and memories. So even if someone has died, or cannot be there due to distance, they are still a part of us and our heart. Yes I do believe that is the true test of love. Are they still a part of you when they have gone.
I really do not see anything here to criticise in it form, meter, or content Richard. This is another well-done piece in true Shakespearean English tradition. I think it is something worth playing with, but perhaps, Spenserian or Italian will be my take. There are so many sonnet forms when you look at all the combinations...LOL Most likely I'll start writing and the poem will decide which form, I write.
This is well done. Strangely enough, with my love of poetry, I never took a poetic course in college. Strange for someone with an English minor.

I am almost positive I commented on your beautifully endearing review when you first left it for me … what could have gone amiss?
I so love your voice when it speaks of poetry and affection … you are so very real and deep.
True, there are a number of classical Sonnet forms, including the Spencerian and Petrarchan forms, and who knows how many "so called" contemporary Sonnets have been invented to snag one's nib on.
Often, I, too, create the poem in my head, begin to write and it swerves in some unforeseen direction … LOL! We poets are a unique breed, eh?
Thank you, Sweet One, for another of your always brilliant reviews; next time I'll double-check to be sure I've commented for you, and not a year after the fact … I am so sorry, Honey … big hugs! ⁓ Richard : )

From start to finish this is written by someone who knows the magic of traditional romantic poetry, the seemingly effortless use of both phrasing and meter. Forgive me if I ask but might this have the gentle influence of Keats, I wonder.. has that gentle style he used so very eloquently?
Thank you to Jazzy for guiding me your way and of course, to you for presenting such a Sunday treat!

BRIGHT STAR
Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art —
not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
and watching, with eternal lids apart,
like Nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
the moving waters at their priestlike task
of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
of snow upon the mountains and the moors.
No — yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
to feel forever its soft fall and swell,
awake forever in a sweet unrest.
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
and so live ever - or else swoon to death.
Your own praise and mention of my name in the same breath as Keats', by far exceeds all gratification I could possibly have hoped for, Dear Poetess, and from one as accomplished as you are makes my humble efforts feel truly worthwhile … my most gracious thank you hug, Emma Joy! ⁓ Richard
