Always, from You, Dear Astute Ghounwah, there is a wonderfully intelligent, insightful, and entertainingly depth-filled surprise.
I adore your own skill at "abstract" writing … you learn so quickly and so very well.🙃
Your discernments on this rather ambiguous piece is equally as interesting and remarkable; for, they are so uncannily close to my very own thoughts … it's almost as though you know me so well, you're with me inside my skin.
What an interesting thought, eh?
Thank you ever-so warmly, Beautiful Poetess! ⁓ Richard🖌

There could be a ringing in the ears with a good crack and that may well be the only marker related to its timing, as it opens up to a journey (of the mind) as the reader may elect to embark upon. On the back of slaves, it is said, the greatest of civilisations where built. What then is it to be great in any field of human endeavour, if it ultimately rests of the suffering of others? Hence, the searching not only commences but continues and never ends. One avenue of thought. But that's just me, at this particular reading. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.

I seldom write abstract or ambiguous pieces, because my mind works so simply it lacks adequate creativity.
They are fun, though, and entertaining when readers each come to their own interesting conclusion.
Because you've gone farther afield and further in depth than anyone else on this piece, I've particularly enjoyed your creative interpretation.
BTW, here's a great history on "Slavery" most never learn about: https://www.encyclopedia.com/social-sciences/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/slavery-and-race#B
Thank you for reading this thought-provoking piece, and for your interesting commentary.

Dearest Richard,
Well, this poem was amazing.. no surprise there!!
The Crack of the Whip can mean oh... so many things.. and it made me think, which your poems always do.. Looking behind the words to find more meaning..
For me, it means the pursuit of ones desires.. That every moment is a new beginning..
Time is irrelevant.as you say..Leaves no mark on time....
Just move on..and let life..live..
Just a few words but such powerful meaning..
Really connected with this poem..

The interpretations you bestow on my poetry … often, quite accurately, too.
Let me add this facet to your insightful spiel: Though, in the quest for one's ideal, years may pass before they find it, and once found, the search seems but a blink or sharp crack in time (rests in memory) when compared to the satisfaction of having it, feeling it, tasting it, enjoying it to its ultimate satisfaction until it becomes familiar. Then, is when a new a quest calls: "the search never ends in the find."
In the spirit of Kahlil Gibran (unquote): "When one thirsts, though their well is full, they thirst with a thirst unquenchable."
Seldom, do I think ambiguity in poetry is a good thing … but, in this case I think it's brilliant, because, rather than confusing readers, it magically teases imaginations in a way that seems or feels familiar.
You share the most interesting reviews, and I love 'em … thank you, Lisa ⁓ Richard ⚖

Richard,
Your opening phrase, 'crack of the whip' is fitting for in life their are continual things which catch are attention and bring the need for affecting a solution or a change. The crack of the whip is something which distracts from a monotonous or stagnant place. This poem was so good to read for it reminded that as long as we are dealing with difficulties or being in wonder of something new life is just so good.
Blessings,
Kathy

"Surgical" poem: I like that … something done with great precision.
Premises, suppositions, speculations, assertions, etc; are all subject to questioning of their validity … assuming, of course, that a thing is actually a "premise", rather than a known.
Does a sharp sound endure through time, other than in the mind, in memory(?), and we all know memory is timeless to a functioning mind, for as long as it functions sufficiently, eh?
Think of all the things we search for and find, but never seem to quite be fully satisfied with.
Gibran said it best: "Is not dread of thirst when your well is full, the thirst that is unquenchable?" And, my interpretation: "He who thirsts, though his well is full, thirsts with a thirst unquenchable."
You really got into that picture, eh? I did, too, Gene; it tugs on my sense of clarity and understanding, causing me to create scenarios that strive to fit. But, I never quite get there … just too many possibilities whirring and whirling around my head, like questioning stars … LOL!
Thanks, Buddy, for the excellent review left for this rather oddly stimulating piece! ⁓ Richard : )

I liked this Richard. The image, for me, had a surrealist feel about it and the writing, for me,had to do with the imortance of learning i.e. the more you learn the more there is to learn as one seeks to live more and more in the resent moment-a great write

My Goodness! You have my pea-brain in quite a state with this. I love the sound of it, and the "crack of a whip leaves no mark on time" has got my mind stammering and repeating just on the myriad of thoughts on that one part. I think of time as that whip-cracking bully trying to take me farther and farther from what once was...the fleeting circles of the clock when time is flying ... getting stuck in memories when I should be moving on....
Then, when I finally read on you have the "search never ends in the find". This is quite a memorable and well done piece, my friend. You have expanded my mind.

In reading your poetry, your reviews, and comments — if there has ever been anyone I've known whose brain is naturally developed to pure excellence, it is definitely Yours … and, I mean it! Yes, Jasmine,
Abstract poetry can certainly be quite challenging to interpret, and in explaining this one, I would say that occurrences we experience (though we forget) remain in our minds and effect us long after they are gone — and in turn, that whatever we may conceive as ideal always seems to change after we have found it, and we keep searching for our new/better/more appealing version of ideals, whether it is a job, a relationship, or being in-love, etc.
Thank you for your time taken to read this anomaly of thought, Dear Lady-Poet … I am ever-so grateful, and I hope the explanation helped make this more easily understood and enjoyed, Dear Jasmine … a most beautiful and smile worthy day to you! ⁓ Richard

The paradox of searching. An endlessness; a cycle of life which you so concisely captured in this smartly compact and insightful piece of creativity. More than just a quick quip of wisdom. Splendidly conceived and executed.
