I agree with the writers slant on this piece. Softly sensual I'd say ~ Upon the banks of yonder Avon in Stratford a bard did lie. He thought of nothing else as pairs of swans go passing by: a lovely maiden he had wooed, appeared across the golden sky. . .and then that angel burst the bubble and drifted silently up above ~ i do now wonder why!

I am so very grateful you chose this little Sonnet to read, and that you found favor in it … blessings, my friend! ~ Richard
Ah, you have written more sonnets! Just lovely. My only critique is that instants don't know; people do. I have no beef with poetic license, but personally I would probably have said "instantly I knew".

Of course, you well know (as do we all) the meaning is that it was me who in "that instant knew" … everyone knows an instant cannot know such a thing. :)
To use the words as you propose would throw the iambic beat of the Sonnet rhythm off.
"INstantLY i KNEW" would begin the line trochaic and ran the HARD beat of KNEW and SHE together.
I am sure it could have been said differently and kept that line in proper beat; give me a bit of time to work on it and we'll see if I can't come up with something more suitable for you.
Thank you again, my new friend … blessings! ~ Richard

this is such a sweet little fairy tale, Richard, full of softness and mysterious images, i love the "crystal waters" and the "velvet mossy banks" and the message that a connection can touch someone so deeply that it sets the spirit free. Hope you found your nymphette!
