Atahensic and the Sisters of Avalon
A Poem by Richard Guimond
The fairy of Avalon and the Iroquois
Atahensic and the Sisters of Avalon
From an eastern land, far, far away,
They came over, a thousand years ago.
On a great ship, with a painted blue sail,
Bearing the Crescent of the Moon,
They came one dark night, thru the mist,
A carved, winged oak dragon boat
That came silently, gliding on the river.
They were tall, they were fair ghostly people
Green eyed tattooed face women,
With and long fiery hairs, in long white dresses
Fallen from Haven, they were
A sad lonely, exiled sisterhood,
Banished, from their Motherland.
Of an Holy Secret Knowledge,
The Sacred Guardians, they were
And to our great mother’s mothers
They kindly offered the Teaching
To pass over their daughter’s daughters
In the Long Houses, around the hearths
Keeping the Great Earth Magic alive
Mystical beacon shining warm and bright
Thru the winter of ignorance and darkness

The voyage of the wise
Coming into lands of ignorance
Shining the beacon of knowledge
Changing ways
Very cool
