Zarathoustra

Zarathoustra

A Poem by Richard Guimond
"

the life and legacy of Zarathoustra

"

Zarathoustra[1]

I stand, ignorant poet, between truth and lie, under the Wise Lord

Like many others, before me, lost in the desert, under a hot sun

My thoughts go to the immemorial prophet, of Zend Avesta

The ''Owner of the Gold Camels' legend would proclaim

Forefather to Hellen philosophers, Jehouda and Muhammad

That saw One under the blue cosmic dome, Ahura Mazda winged disk

Persecuted in life, even in his mother's native town

Old stories talked of his fall in Balkh, from infidel Turanian hands

The champion of Free Will: ''Neither gods nor men to choose for you''

And so many desert born wisedom, attributed to the prophet

As then, as today and even in future times men to say''Also spoke Zarathoustra''
