Living Life Without a Safety Net

Living Life Without a Safety Net

A Poem by Richard Helbert

i hear and listen closely
but cannot always understand
to what is being said
confusion overwhelms me
leaving me no choice
but to trust in fate
leaving caution to the wind
no safety net
sink or swim
fly or fall
and if my faith
and trust
are wrong
than at least i tried
and will have to face
the darkness
and feel the pain
but at least i tried
and can find comfort
in ther fact
that i can still believe
and hope
and dream
that i have not yet lost my soul
