Memories of Days Past

Memories of Days Past

A Poem by Richard Helbert

i often think of days gone by
and they make me smile
sometimes i get confused
so long ago
so many bright magical days
but they never last
and in the end
i start to wonder
if it all was just a dream
some kind of real mindfuck
my brains way of coping
with the state of things
trying to maintain
in a mad, mad, world
as i walk along the edge
it could go either way
why would i really care
when all i have left
are my memories

Yet again another great piece. I really liked the ending, "why would I really care when all I have left are my memories".
