Harvest Masquerade

Harvest Masquerade

A Poem by Vria P Crow
"

"The nature of a fallen leaf..."

"
The nature of a fallen leaf
is an impudent thing;
decayed, derailed, and deranged.

A rooster crows during the fall,
warning his little wives
of a harsh winter visit.

I once found the shades of autumn
an enchanting visage
until they knocked at the morgue.

I am afraid that the harvest
is nothing more than a
sly mortician in disguise.

Candy apples begin to rot
through a wicker basket
wrapped into a Grim treat.

A whole new dimension of thoughts towards autumn... there is a mysterious feeling in this poem and certainly you brought clear imageries for the reader... The dryness of autumn is missing this year here because of rain and it is starting to get cold so autumn might not be able to spread it's wings much... My poem about the old tree is kind of similar to this thought... I love the rooster in the picture...

Huh. So. All the people fawning over fall. Portents of ends rather than beginnings. Here comes the cold, and death.

I never thought of autumn this way and you have helped me see autumn in a new way. I didn't realize that the autumn leaves knocked at the morgue, ria. I feel left out of this autumn but of course we all experience the same autumns at different times and in different years but this season is always one...

A point of difference--well, we visited a farm for children to pick out pumpkins and they have a lot of roosters almost no chickens. They kept all the roosters in one place and their hens in another. There had to have been twenty roosters of various varieties.
