Silence

Silence

A Poem by L. C. Rhodes
"

One of the first poems I ever wrote. The third that I recorded in my notebook. You might get a kick out of it.

"
thrumming, pounding,
humming, howling,
an insane language,
born from your own mind.

Silence.

biting, crunching,
snapping, snarling,
don't you hear,
the words they're speaking?

Silence.

grinding, rasping,
choking, gasping,
in the darkness,
pull back the curtain.

Silence.

burning, churning,
clawing, scratching,
eyes that glitter,
in cruel moonlight.

Silence.

sweating, shaking,
crying, dying,
ignite the light,
find the empty room.

Silence.

I cannot conceive true silience. I am my own white noise generator.

"Their?" Would "they are" be apt?

I'll by damned, you found another one. Thank you Mr. Cooper.
Silence can be a visceral conviction or an abandonment or an abrogation of response. An interesting early write. Silence in this is visceral.
