I Try So Hard...

I Try So Hard...

A Poem by Joe
"

I try so hard.

"
I try so hard to help people.
I try so hard to be there.
I try so hard to satisfy the needs of others.
I try so hard it has become what I am.
I try so hard my only goal is to help everyone.
I try so hard I've lost any interest in my personal future.
I try so hard I don't know what I want to do.
I try so hard I don't care about myself.
I try so hard I only care about those around me.
I try so hard feel more like a robot than a human being.
I try so hard I am now a service machine and not a person.
I try so hard I am scared to be alone.
I try so hard I am growing tired.
I try so hard.
I try so hard.

I like the repetition in this poem...

I love this as I find myself relating to it very well. The repetition adds so much emotion.

For some reason, this brings to mind "Crucify" by Tori Amos. It is the weart repetition of trying so hard although, of course, without the anger of the song. I think it is very astute that the poem ends by repeating "I try so hard" twice, as that really brings home the emotional echoing going on in the character's (or your?) head.

I think anyone who honestly tries to work to improve the life of the people around them has felt this feeling. I won't try to offer any corny advice or support. What you need and what you can do depends on your situation. I just hope it's not as bad as it could be, but not so good that you never need to learn anything.

i can relate to playing a different role for each person in your life. it feels like your self disappears and you don't know who you are anymore. this poem is something for a person who can't articulate these feelings. excellent poem.
