Persistence of Memory

Persistence of Memory

A Poem by Joe
"

title borrowed from the Salvador Dali painting

"
A persistence of memories stuck in my head.
Thoughts of good times and bad,
Thoughts of the ill and glad.
A persistence of memories I want out of my head.

A persistence of memories I want out of my head.
What is it they insist,
As they continue to persist?
A persistence of memories stuck in my head.

A persistence of memories stuck in my head.
So far the new year's a blast,
So why am I stuck in the past?
A persistence of memories I want out of my head.

A persistence of memories I want out of my head.
I toss and I turn as I try to sleep,
But the thoughts are buried far too deep.
A persistence of memories stuck in my head.

A persistence of memories stuck in my head.
Books and computer I continually devour,
But once they're aside, the thoughts are back into power.
A persistence of memories I want out of my head.

A persistence of memories I want out of my head.
Soon or later, I guess I suppose,
My brain, of these thoughts, it will dispose.
A persistence of memories stuck in my head.

A persistence of memories stuck in my head.
After they leave, oh when,
I'll be happy once again.
A persistence of memories I want out of my head.
