The Moore's IX (39)
Stephen sat on the bench, a Rowdy Rooster in hand, watching Vivi and Tyler running around and playing with each other as the sun touched its peak in the sky and began to fall slowly. He sipped his beer and took another bite of his Yummy Weiner! hot dog. "Are you okay, Stephen?" Henrietta, who was sitting next to the bench in one of the family's canvas chairs, asked, drinking her own Rowdy Rooster. Stephen shrugged. Was he alright? He didn't know. First that commotion at the church and now the eerie feeling that something was going to happen soon. It was almost too much to handle. "How are you?" He asked, not answering his wife's question. "Oh, I'm okay, I guess," Henrietta replied, looking towards her children, who were running and playing a game of Tag. "You don't sound quite so okay," Stephen said, rubbing Henrietta's back. "I just have this bad feeling, is all." The two looked into each other's eyes and Stephen asked, "like something is about too happen?" "I don't know," Henrietta shrugged. "It's just a bad feeling." "Do you suppose we should go back home?" "No," Henrietta shook her head. "I think it's just what happened in church today. After a good night's sleep, things will be better." Stephen nodded, secretly praying that circumstances would pull them back to New York. He didn't want to spend anymore time here than he had to. That feeling that something was going to happen had only intensified during the day.
