Dance in a circle

Dance in a circle

A Poem by Rhine Wolf
"

one of my older works

"

You play with me as an old friend
We dance in a circle
You on the outside and me in the middle

Oh the fun we have
You build me up make my soul brighter
To hear your laughter as I go higher

I love the colors you wear
The ribbon in your long flowing hair
We dance, me in the middle

Is your dress of satin or silk
It flows like the pouring of milk
Come a little close for me to have a look

As the light falls on your beautiful face
You stumble and fall into my warm embrace
My love of you there will be not a trace.

The silk will sizzle and burn
Worry not soon it will be your turn
Sorry my love to late did you to learn.

Author's Note

Rhine Wolf
Late in the year there was a huge, tragic fire in the forests of Canada and it got me thinking of the dangers of fire. How may people more in particular, children are lost or forever scared by the beast we know as Fire.

I deliberately used a little girl in this poem for they have the perception of being more careful than little boys, having been a boy once. I wanted to the poem to come across more shocking that what it did.

It came across with the seduction and curiosity that fire ignites in all of us. Well done.
