A fallen KnightA Poem by Rhine WolfThis was written for the firefighters that we lose on a daily basics.
Slowly I round the bend
The scene hit me like a brick
Lights flashing, sirens blearing
Smoke every where!
Where was the beast to sleigh?
Where was it hiding?
In what dark corner is it skulking?
Fear not! For your knight is here!
With shield and elemental sword,
I surge forward, pushing hard!
Searching for the beasts victims
Clearing them from the beasts Rage!
Finally I come upon its lair, hot and smoldering
All things ashen, a sight of such despair
I have been here many a time
And still here I stand to tell the tale!
With sword I strike, a hiss replies
Behind my shield I stand strong
Protected from the wrath of the beast!
It roars and hisses as the battle is fought
Giving away to me, it doesn’t stand a chance
Suddenly my luck changes, I stumble & fall
Sensing weakness, the beast advances!
Slashing, roaring spitting fire all-around!
My shied is melting my sword is drying out
Is this my final hour? Are my lights to go out?
With a last ROAR, I will my sword to flow.
Slowly I round the bend
The scene before me is so heart wrenching
The victims of the beast line thousands deep
Now this knight too is to join his brothers, never more to fight!
