Self- Worth in a spiritual lightA Story by Rhiannon Dragonraine
Self Worth
What does this phrase mean? It means to have pride in one self. However, that is not to say that you see your self as better as anyone else. In fact Self worth is a matter of balance that we must achieve within our lives. It is about showing appreciation for the Divine Spark, that piece of the Divine that lives within us, and honoring it as we honor the divine in others.
When we do not consider ourselves worthy we are dis-honoring our own divinity by allowing our ego to get in the way of the gifts we were granted upon creation. When we have no sense of self worth we can get into all kinds of trouble allowing ourselves to be used, abused or worse. This is not living a healthy spiritual life.
However the converse is also not healthy, if we value ourselves over others and believe that we are the only authority, we are not walking a divine path either. Self Worth goes hand in hand with respecting others. If we respect the divine in others we should also respect the divine in our self and vice versa.
Healthy Self Worth is a delicate balance in which you see your self as a divine part of the rest of the universe, worthy of acceptance, understanding, love and abundance; an equal to other divine pieces of the universe who are just as worthy of the same things. To walk your life path with a healthy sense of self worth is to walk with love; the unconditional spiritual love of the universe for all things, which grants acceptance and understanding.
It allows us to accept our self, and others for the divine creations that we are, to understand that mistakes are a mode of spiritual education and to love even the things our human egos view as flaws.
Working on Self Worth is not an easy thing to do; many of us have accepted society’s view that to be anything less than perfect is not acceptable; this is an err in judgment, in fact all of those differences is what makes each of us uniquely beautiful, worthy of respect and love, and makes the world and universe the interesting place that it is.
To begin working on your own sense of self worth begin to meditate on your own inner divine self, take time in meditation to get to know it and learn what makes you uniquely special. Once this is realized it is easy to move on to appreciating and honoring your own divine self. You may try the following affirmations to aid you in gaining a healthy sense of self worth:
“I am a manifestation of the Divine perfect in my being, worthy of love and respect.”
“I am loved and accepted by the divine and there fore I love and respect myself.”
“I recognize myself as a divine manifest and give myself the acceptance and love that I give to the divine.”
