Prologue

A Chapter by Rhiannon Dragonraine

It came quietly, slipping through the darkness in and out of dreams, masking itself in shadows. The Apocalypse was not what anyone thought that it would be. There was no violent destruction of the entire world. No it came in a way never expected; technology. The industrial revolution began it quietly, a few conveniences here and there, work was easier. With each new convenience we slipped further and further away from what we once were and closer to the end of the world.
Our consciousness slipped further away from harmony with the earth. We divorced ourselves from the great mother, and all of our Animal brethren called ourselves superior “top of the food chain” and so on. Work became easier and we became lazier. We put our trust in pieces of paper the government said was valuable. Greed was the next stage; everyone trying to outdo everyone else. Our own appetites became our worst enemies and wars were fought for insignificant reasons and life was lost and mutilated on a larger scale than ever seen. Society turned a blind eye at first taking it for granted that it was just a part of how the world worked, until the body count and people missing body parts grew to an astronomical number.
Then something happened, amid a slew of natural disasters; forest fires, floods, hurricanes and massive ice storms; all of which made the electrical systems we had surrounded ourselves with null and void, and the economy crumbled. Then something changed.
Quiet evolution in mass consciousness and for most the world as they knew it no longer existed; altered forever, they continued on in a new world. The post apocalyptic world, only thing was no one knew, no one realized the apocalypse had come and gone and we were left to unknowingly pick up the pieces, as far as they were concerned it was just the way the world worked and a natural evolution of society; things went on and yeah there were a few who spoke out at first and then the movement grew.
The destruction continued,, not all were affected by the change, until the voices began to raise in defense of the previously defenseless. This is where we are now; the resurrection of our world.

A very chilling account of how one might perceive the new dawn of mankind to unfold you have painted a grim outlook yet it is very sober, wars are already being fought meaningless ones at that costing vast amounts of money to the ratepayers, people are becoming so insular as to not care about each other let alone the world around them.
If we become a generation of aethiests and lock ourselves away with our computers not wanting human contact then self implosion will occur and death between neighbours on a large scale will occur and eventually the whole fabric of society is on it's knees.
We simply cannot expect a few to do all the jobs that the majority are opting out of doing, society cannot run itself.
I believe westernization and the culture of the west is on borrowed time in 30 to 50 years we will see the end of it and man will have to go out and hunt for food, the shops will be long gone and civilization will evapourate in my view.Nice read
