The one left behind...

The one left behind...

A Poem by Rhiannon Dragonraine
"

In honor of the military wife

"
The one left behind
sits at her computer
first hopefully searching her e-mails
and then when she finds one; cries
she frets and she worries
and yet still carries on
She gets up every morning
taking care of business;
Going to work, cleaning the house
all the while worrying about those she  loves
The one left behind
she loves, she says goodbye, she cries
and then she worries and deals
She keeps up on everything that needs taking care of
knowing she needs to be strong
for the love that is gone
and for those that are still here
She struggles with bills and birthdays
and daily decisions
distracted by the worries and loneliness
and still she stays strong and gets by
she listens to others speak ill of those who serve
and most the time politely bites her tongue
The one left behind
is proud of what her husband stands for
and sad that he has to stand at all
She stays strong while
she hopes and looks forward to the day he returns home
She loves and stands beside him
anxiously awaiting
the time he doesn't have to stand up for others anymore
Life is not easy for the one left behind
but she does it anyway
for love of her husband and her country
And so I ask all those who speak ill of our brave soldiers
be thoughtful before you speak
for you never know the hardships or who is...
The one left behind.

The one left behind"
This is touching and soul stirring
Your words reveal the heart
like an open book
in a way most can relate to
Such talent.

OMG- girl this took my heart.
After reading the realities of everyday life and worries of military wives/families I got to that part of your poem and I felt so sad for you and your husband.

-She loves and stands beside him-
I stand by him too.
Thanks to you both for all your sacrifices. : )
