The one left behindsits at her computerfirst hopefully searching her e-mailsand then when she finds one; criesshe frets and she worriesand yet still carries onShe gets up every morningtaking care of business;Going to work, cleaning the houseall the while worrying about those she lovesThe one left behindshe loves, she says goodbye, she criesand then she worries and dealsShe keeps up on everything that needs taking care ofknowing she needs to be strongfor the love that is gone and for those that are still hereShe struggles with bills and birthdaysand daily decisionsdistracted by the worries and lonelinessand still she stays strong and gets byshe listens to others speak ill of those who serve and most the time politely bites her tongueThe one left behindis proud of what her husband stands for and sad that he has to stand at allShe stays strong whileshe hopes and looks forward to the day he returns homeShe loves and stands beside him anxiously awaiting the time he doesn't have to stand up for others anymoreLife is not easy for the one left behindbut she does it anyway for love of her husband and her countryAnd so I ask all those who speak ill of our brave soldiersbe thoughtful before you speakfor you never know the hardships or who is...The one left behind.
The one left behind
is proud of what her husband stands for
and sad that he has to stand at all
OMG- girl this took my heart.
After reading the realities of everyday life and worries of military wives/families I got to that part of your poem and I felt so sad for you and your husband.
-She loves and stands beside him-
I stand by him too.
Thanks to you both for all your sacrifices. : )
