Lessons from NatureA Poem by Rhiannon DragonraineNature in her glory, spreads out a beautiful tapestry for me to behold greys, tans, browns, and dark greens play out in a gorgeous scene burnished by the sun's rays Illuminated with the loving light and Strength of the God Gifted with the beauty that only the hand of the Goddess could bestow. All elements come together here: Water; the blood of our mother gurgles as it flows down the stream bed ever flowing ever changing The sun's rays sparkle off the crystalline depths as its currents trickle forth its lesson on life: "Life is like this stream, it follows a cerain path but no matter how similar it may seem, the water is never the same so it is with life; no matter how repetitive it may seem each day is never the same." I sit for a minute letting this sink in feeling it's truth resonate within me.After a few minutes I become aware of the next element wishing to share it's wisdom. Air the breath of our mother wafts through the tree tops and aids birds in their flight gently caressing all in its path. "A mind is like the breezes" it whispers across my skin "We go where ever we will on a whim there is no holding us back as we dance across the expanses before us we can blow with a mighty force; destroying what is in front of us or only whisper past it barely caressing it. So too are the thoughts within a mind they can go where ever you wish, be destructive or kind; this you must understand as you go along your way and temper your thoughts accordingly" The breezes die down as I contemplate this revelation, as it settles within my soul my attention is drawn down to the ground upon which I sit. Earth; the body of our mother sturdy and fertile giving a home to all that live it vibrates its wisdom into my soul "All of you are as me, capable of much creation, if only you let it take root. All things start with the smallest seed, must be nourished and allowed to grow. This is true of your life, anything you wish to create can grow and flourish; but you must be the fertile ground in which its roots lay." My heart sings with the knowledge of this truth as I sit there and commune with all that is around me. I become aware of the heat of the sun on my back, warming me. Fire which is the gift of the father who caresses his mate lovingly illuminating its secret from sunrise to sunset each day for all to know. Radiates its wisdom into me "Passion is as I, burning brightly hot too much can be destructive, not enough and life fails to survive. Allow your passions to burn daily illuminating what you do but as I do wane and give power unto the night, so too must you allow your own light to rest so it may be as constantly bright shining to lighten your way." A cloud floats in front of the sun and the warmth recedes as I let this wisdom sink into. Slowly I open my eyes to appreciate what has been shown and I realize that within this sacred sancutary of a mountain forest hidden truths and wisdom lie they have been here before us and they will continue after we die Nature can teach us the secrets we should know of silence, love and passion of life's ebb and flow The birds and animals that live among the trees do not worry about what they should be deep down inside they know and so they live as what they are they watch the seasons come and seasons go Confidence and security they can pass along to thee if you listen openly they'll share the wisdom that they know they chatter and they sing and each sound and moment; another lesson brings So go you out in the land and let nature guide you by the hand.
