The ramblings of a writers mind on their craft...

 

 

Love ripped from its heart's home; splattered across the page

the subtle steps of a soul's dance

swaying with emotion as words printed on the page

moving  through the  myriad of emotions

Anger and despair, joy and loss

spelled out in bold black and white

their effects and essence leaving

behind undefinable shades of gray

when penned with talented artistry

by the writer's hand.

 

In deep meditation the words are crafted

aided by a simple melody

Their rhythm and their pause

The tone and timbre all taken into consideration

as a writer takes up a pen

with flourishing strokes across a page

in frenzied inspiration

the soul laid open and bare for the world to read

when painting with a pen

 

Brilliant shades of greens, blues and reds come alive

within the ink

as words bring the picture to life

quiet and still the writer sits

as pen scratches on paper

recording the comings and goings

of those around, and those not in existence

the thoughts filling the artist's mind sheer to bursting

until at last the picture complete and

the pen is laid to rest.

rhi, i really love the way you express passionate thoughts, one can feel the motion of your breathing in every well written word, this poem is beautifully done, and speaks insight in many ways, your images flow from the soul and create a passionate portrait of what it means to be an artist at heart, expressed with sincerity, i really enjoyed how you the reader with the motion of vision, flows like waves, and as each punctuating thought crashes upon the shore of the readers heart, lovely, certainly painted with pen!

It never ceases to amaze me that people so far away from each other can have similar thoughts at the same time ... This is lovely and reminds me of my collaboration with Murphy called Paint For Me, Poet. Your focus is different from ours, so you found and expressed things that we couldn't and didn't. I especially love the last two lines -- I can almost hear the soft sigh of satisfaction :-).
