A Resolution

I failed to join those top notchers
this first grading,
Surely, I was disappointed
I didn't do my best again.

I can cry,
I can mope around,
I can lock myself up,
And I can scream like a madman.

All of those things, I can do them all
But it wont change a thing,
It would just express my disappointment,
But it wont solve my problem.

This is my only way for me to be appreciated,
For my parents not too criticize my hobby,
And for them not to stop me from writing,
That's why I tried my best, but it wasn't enough.

But this is not the end,
I have three gradings left
I'll just use today's disappointment as a springboard
On reaching my goal.

Rhianne, Passing exams is a societal expectation. Great people rise above such crass things. They only show skill in rehearsing and retention of information. Of cours some can also interpret and use the information but it is no impediment to have deeper skills. And those you certainly have.

Don't be hard on your parents. When you are one you may do things differently but they only want to do for you what THEY think is right no matter how misguided. Make your progress on your own but respect and love them at the same time. Be strong and determined and do not let your parent's 'disapointment or the bullies get to you. Great people were subjugated but rose above it!

Nice positive poem! You expressed your disappointment well, allowing the reader to sympa/empathize with you, but you didn't leave us feeling dejected, you gave the reader a valuable lesson at the end which we could all use. ahhh.yeah......i understand how it feels like when someone(especially the family members)..criticize our hobby for it's about studies.and what i actually hate is..i study almost everyitme(well.i actually like to study....but not for marks.for knowledge and curiosity).but still when i just buy a few minutes for doing something different.....i'm criticized.....i really don't like that...
anyway.

My question is, Is the goal yours or what another wishes for you? Stay true to yourself, for in the end you are left with yourself. I enjoyed the writing. Again I see a bit of the past in reminding me of the future. :) You are still growing, much more ahead to grasp within your pen. Let it not rest as I did when young.
