Because We Try

We cry and we lie
Eventually we die
All because we try

Love is sweet
it fills you with serenity
But it is the most painful defeat
and makes you writhe in agony

Trust is what we strive to gain
simple and plain
but one mistake
makes the other ache

Despair is easy to see
So effortless
An ungraceful plea
Making you reckless

Leave me be
can't you see
It hurts

All I can see is Despair
All I truly seek is Love
Everyone wants to break my Trust

So I'll wear my smile big and proud
I'll tell you I cried
But I'll say it nice and loud
The joy of knowing I tried

Started with the haiku I put as the first stanza, but I wanted to expand on the thought so that's what the rest of this poem is. Again, I would love to hear any criticism on it at all.
