I take this as a play on the interplay of faith with the temptations that abound in this life....savior, consuming fire, constructive design.... all speak of the realm of the spiritual."Bending my Creed in lustful need".....compromises sometimes arise from desperation....all a learning process, on the road to wholeness.The lines will materialize in time. The ending is egnimatic....as though you are saying that in knowing what is right you must say no to your inner desires.....

I'm grasping the concept but am having a hard time articulating it any better than you already have. This seems to define the almost self destructive nature of a writers mind; the paradoxes that you must push aside to be able to construct the work that serves as the "consuming fire"-- the emotion and consciousness of taking a single feeling and transferring it into something lasting and profound.

This is fantastic; the style here is great; and you have certainly said a mouthful in such few seemingly simple, yet highly complex lines.

I don't think this is confusing at all...but perhaps it's because I've shared that metaphors for me...is like going through hypnosis. I may not understand what I write about until several week later when someone else tears apart my psyche. Or I will have an epiphany about something out of the freaking blue...and I'll think...yes...that's it!
