Linger

Linger

A Poem by Revery
"

Dedicated to the love of my life.

"

As I think of you and me

I stop to look across
the placid water and
the quiet lulls my thoughts
into a slow state.

I linger in a feeling

and savor treasured memories,

and my head spins
with dulcet images
in lost reverie.

I notice that it is the shore
that gives boundary and definition
and it’s that boundary

that gives the water depth.

I’m reminded of
that brief moment in between
now and yesterday where
the desperate heart
yearned to feel.

Where I dreamt of
serendipitous tomorrows
floating into the silky lagoon
of my loneliness.

I only needed a simple ripple
to move me in this place,
to know your sultry touch
on the fabric
of my gossamer reality

Revery, I read your poems with my mind wide open ready to drink in every word. The ripple of the water and the touch of a woman.. such a sensual pairing. I can close my eyes and feel your words. I love when poetry does that to me. This poem is beautiful.

Thank you Geraldine.
Calm and beautiful write. Only thing I noticed is the second to the last stanza, I believe it is meant to be 'loneliness'..?

Great write. I loved this.

Thank you for reading my poem.
There are times, places and people which and who create a feeling of home, of comfort and everything that means love .. your poem encompasses all that and more. Such beautiful phrasing, ' .. and it's that boundary that gives the water depth.. '

I love the imagery this poetic piece offers... I sense a "Love is eternal" theme, and it was executed very well... I am a fan! :)

Thank you Rebecca for reading and taking the time to review.
So beautiful, so moving. I loved the great word usage in this poem. It really added something to this poem. It makes the reader pause, to fully understand the meaning, and in pausing, we join you on your path.

....only one tiny thing...I think in the first stanza you mean "quiet" not "quite".

Thank you so very much.
The last line "of my gossamer reality" opens the whole new universe and extends the beauty of this poem beyond the textual form. I would just remove the period at the end to give this beauty the way out, to fly outside of the verbal reality …
Amazing metaphors! Enjoyed so much!
