Remember

"
I remember when there was a poetry in my words
And you hung from every broken verse
I remember the scent down on your bed
I remember every word you said

I remember, I remember
Summer flowers in her hair

I remember the sand beneath my toes
As you crept up on me
Douse me in a thousand lies
I love your hair, I'll fix your tie

I remember dancing in a crowding room
Step on your shoes
I touch your neck, you kiss my lips
I kiss you too

I remember, I remember
Water crashing through her hands

I remember sneaking through the woods
You lay your charm on me
Feel you on my lips for days
We'd joke about how old we'd age

I remember waking to
Your hand nailed to my waist
You whisper "If I died today
This is where I'd lay"

I remember leaving you
in the hallway, all alone
I remember loving you
Until it left your bones

I remember screaming for your touch
At night in bed
I remember you taught me how to feel
Then you were dead

I remember, I remember
Summer in her hair

I remember, I remember
The silence in her stare
