Color Me BeautifulA Poem by BruceJacksonHere is a poem that speaks of the beauty of women of color. Be blessed by this today.Originally published in Words from the Underground by Bruce Jackson (2010)
Color is color Unless you give it another name. Color can be beautiful. Many will say the same. What's your color? What's your new name? What's your color? Don't be ashamed. Are you Honey Brown, The sweet pancake tone That looks sweet enough to eat With syrup or just alone? Are you Brown Sugar today Just as sweet as can be? If you're that sweet to the eye, Someone must call you Sweet Lady. Are you that Red Bone From way down South With sugary sweet Delicious words spilling from your mouth? Are you Coal Black And all that Who has the knack To keep a brother on track? Are you Cinamon Sweet Like a lovely treat Who is so sweet That her love's complete? Could you be Chocolate Cool Who makes the boys druel From home to school And treats each one like a plumb fool? Whatever your color Don't count it a waste. There are all sorts of colors © 2011 BruceJackson |
