The Fish Seeks WingsA Poem by Victor ChavezThe Fish who saught to fly
There is a fish that wishes to fly
Its wings have not grown, and soon it will die. The expanding abyss forever keeps its love And it knows that death awaits above Seeking comfort with the others, it swims again Though it knows all too well what dwells with them It is the common fish, the common death that lies here. Not one, not any, will know what it is to shed a tear. Perhaps a merrier time awaits in the lighter blue expanse Perhaps, maybe, even a greater more vivid trance. There is a fish that wishes to fly Its wings have not grown, and soon it will die. Upon the thin woven lines it will flow and be merry For life comes soon with the wings it will now carry. © 2017 Victor Chavez |
