Get stuck in a little space with the person who you hate should make you crazy huh?... Or makes you to tell the true?

High school rebel, Joy White, and honor student, Liam Wright caught their balance as the metal elevator jerked hard to a stop. “Look at what you've done.”, said Joy, annoyed. Liam retorted, “Me? You pushed me and that broke the knob.”

“Just help me to get some help” said Joy. Liam sighed, rolling his sky-blue-eyes, and they began beating on the elevator's doors and yelling for help, but... “It's useless.” exasperated Joy. “This is your fault Lame-o-Liam.”

“Why do you blame everything on me? You're the first person who started to throw food at lunch and you're the one who made us get clean up duty after school... Also can I say again? You pushed me and that broke the knob. You put us in this position, Unenjoyable Joy.”

“Actually, you clumsily bumped into me in the stupid lunch line. Then you didn't let go of the pudding that I grabbed first... and I pushed you because you were annoying me. It all wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for your clumsy and annoying a*s.” Liam corrected her again by saying, “Actually, you bumped into me and the pudding incident was both our faults. We both had too much pride to let go of the stupid pudding and was it like you weren't annoying me too?” He sarcastically said, “Hey look, I'm taking some blame, not putting all on someone else like somebody is...” Joy puffed and said, “Oh... just shut up and keep on your side.” Liam said, “Fine.”

After that, they sat on the floor and leaned on the elevator's wall in silence for one hour, until Joy laughed. “What?” Liam disinterestedly asked. “We made an epic food fight.” Liam started to laugh too, “Wow, you said we.” Liam provoked Joy. “Guess what? I tried to take some of the credit, but nooo, you have to be a jerk.” There it was again, one of Joy's sparks, the spark that gave Liam the recurrent urge to provoke her for only one reason, to get a glimpse of it again.

She jumped up. “I need to get out of this... the... this damn thing... and especially away from you.” He got up as Joy was inspecting the ceiling of the elevator. “How? Do you have secret super powers that I don't know about, Superhero Joy?” She gave him a look, like, “Really, do you want to get off of this elevator in a body bag?” She asked, "Shouldn't Principal Kane have checked in with us? Remember he had something to do in his office and he would check in with us in every five minutes.” Liam gave her his opinion, '”Well... maybe he thought we split.” she nodded and then she realized, “Oh, cell phones.” Liam acknowledged what she said and they pulled their phones out of their jeans pockets. “Crap, dead. Yours?” Joy asked Liam as she putting her dead phone back in her pocket. “Umm, lately my phone has been acting up, because... someone... last week... poured... toilet water in my backpack!”, said Liam, dragging out a part of his sentence. Then said, “And my phone was in there with my other stuff.” Joy smiled about his humiliation that she caused. Then she frowned and said, “You're still using it after being in---?” Liam cut her off. “I cleaned it.”

She shook her head and chuckled. “Give me it.” He glanced incredulously at her. “No...” She reached for his cell phone. “Give it.” They started to wrestle over it. “No...” When the struggle continued, the phone flew out of their hands, slammed into the wall, and then plunked on the floor. “Damn, Joy.” Liam walked to his phone and picked it up. “Great, it's cracked.” He pressed the on button, but... “And now It isn't turning on. I hope you're happy now.” Liam raked his fingers through his amber hair out of frustration. He walked to Joy and stood very close to her. Like they could feel each other's warm breath and made an uneven heart shape in the space between their necks. “Argh, sometimes you Joy makes me want to... do... to...Grr” The closeness made Liam distracted... Especially, her chocolate-brown-eyes... “Makes you want to what?” Joy's defiant attitude snapped him out of it... “Makes me want to kill you sometimes!” He stepped back from her perfume that really... really... really... smelled good to him and Joy heated said, “Me too.” Then she pulled a pack of playing cards out of her other pocket and calmly asked, “Poker?” Liam sighed.

So, that's what they did for two hours, played poker. “You can't do that to me.”, said Liam in a light mood. Joy laughed, but the strange thing was she laughed with him. “I'm sorry you lost poker to a girl... again.” Liam cocky said, “Hey, I could beat you if I wanted to.” Joy tilted her head. “So, you were letting me win?” Liam gave up. “fine, you won square and fair.” She smiled as she was picking the cards up.

“Wow, We aren't fighting.” Liam said. “I know. Odd.” He asked her, “Why do you always pick on me?” She smart-alecky answered him, “It's fun to.” they laughed. “Yep, it's fun to annoy you too, but really why? We have been at each other's throats since 5th grade. You should be the one to know because you started the whole thing... by pulling my pants down... What happened? Did I do something to you... or said something that I don't remember?” She nervously said, “I... I pulled your pants down because... just because... Hey, should somebody be looking for us by now?” She got up from the floor and walk to the elevator's doors as she was pulling her navy sweater cross over her maroon top... He stood up and verified more than asked, “It's... something else... Joy?” She span around and shaky said, “I hate you and you hate me. What's more to it?” He started to nod his head and slowly said, “Oh really?... What if... I walked... to you...” Her heart began to race when he started walking toward her. When he stood in front of her, he said in a low tone, “Then... I... leaned... in...” He rested his hands each sides of her on the wall. “And... do...”, said Liam, breathless. His soft lips brushed her rosey-pink-lips lightly, when... “Darn, the elevator is broken.”, said the unseen janitor.

Joy pushed Liam as she was saying, “Move.” She turn back to the doors. She smacked the door and yelled. Liam in a seconds recalled what he heard in the background in the... Well, the worst moment to be rescued... He started to help her to make noise for the janitor to hear. “Hello, is someone in there?” They yelled in the same time, “Yes!” The janitor said on the other side of the elevator, “Hang on. I'll get help.” Joy replied, “Ok.” Liam added, “Thank you.” Liam and Joy pushed off the doors. Joy said, “Thank God, help is coming for I can get out of this stupid elevator and get away from you.” Liam grinned. “Oh, it didn't look like that in 5 second ago.” She faced him. “Even if the janitor... or whoever that was?... didn't come, I would still push you away and nothing happened.” Liam rolled his eyes. “Joy, you and I know better, what happened there... Well, what almost happened.” Joy acted like she was grossed out about the whole thing, “Yeah... yuck... Your fish lips touched mine. That was luck because it was a light touch. If you really... ki... yuck... kissed me, I would have really throw up at there... yuck...” She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “Oh, whatever Joy.”, said Liam, annoyed. He leaned on the wall. Joy said back to him, “Yeah, whatever... just wait for help.”

They stood on other sides of the elevator and every so often they glanced at one another, until a fireman spoken out of the elevator. “Yes, we're fine.” Joy answered the firefighter. “Alright, I'll have you out immediately.” Joy said, “Cool.” she stepped away from the doors. “Cool?” Liam asked her, still irritated. “What's wrong with the word, cool?” Liam sighed. “Nothing.” Joy went back to her area of the elevator and waited for a few seconds to say, “Hey, If you tell everybody that we almost kissed, I'll pulverize you.” Liam asked her as he was walking to the middle of the elevator, “Are you saying we almost kissed now?” She positioned herself in front of him and said, “I meant you weirdo tried to kiss me. If you were going try to kiss me again, I would stop you.” He smile. “Really, Joy?” She said to his nose, “Mhm, absolutely.”, but Liam caught that. He swiftly grabbed her of the waist, behind of her brunet head with his hand, and held her close to his chest. “Stop me, Joy.” She weakly said, “I will.”, but she was paralyzed. Liam whispered as he was approaching her lips, “I thought you were going to stop me?” Joy grabbed two fists of his light-blue dress shirt and pull him the rest the way. Like between the elevator's doors, there was sparks between the kiss. Then the fireman cleared his throat. Liam and Joy turned their heads to him from the sunk elevator for a few seconds. Then they turned back to each other. Joy said to Liam in a smile, “You won poker anyhow.” Liam smiled.

The epilogue

A month later, out of the elevator, in the halls of their high school Liam and Joy walking as they bickered about which movie to go to see after school on one of their dates, They paused when they saw John Scott and Emma Green arguing about something. “My God, they need to get stuck in an elevator together already.”, said Joy and laughed. “Them?” Liam incredulously asked. “Why not them?”He answered his girlfriend, “Because everyone who seems like they hate each other doesn't always mean they're hiding their real feelings, like two people did.” Joy sarcastically said, “yea... yea... yea...” She kissed him and afterward said, “but he is my best friend and I can tell when John like someone. He has the hots for her.” She walked away. “Emma is my best friend.” Liam went to get catching up with her and passed by the elevator.
