Horatio’s OversightA Poem by ReticentA sonnet about a politician who considers himself one of the people distraught by his fellow politicians who shun anyone who disagrees with the government as Marxists, revolutionists or anarchists.Oh bountiful pleadings! Marvellous joy! Avid caution closets a most tiresome day A burden to carry, for now we pray Dark secrets live where inside they will toy Facades impose truth, ignoring our ploy But assets to grieve the sky turned grey Follow the bone, evolution to stray A claim against deceit, behaving coy Timid, mistaken, a label so fierce Anarchist, criminal, if words could wound Gargoyle! Statue! Your help is unwanted here Fervent, honest, from my tongue your skin pierced Strip you of fallacies, bare and ungroomed Clear, of essence, and an absence of fear. © 2014 ReticentAuthor's Note
