The Man who loved too much

The Man who loved too much

Losing Love

"

At the edge of the forest, In the middle of the night
There was this clearing, where I belonged
The light of the moon, the depth of the heart

The fall of the rain, the slush of the mud

She was coming, I knew it then
And my heart was set to see my dream
There she came, what a vision she was
I was struck... by the skies above
Then I went down on my knee
With a rose so red I asked her hand

Little did I know that I had taken a punt
With the master of destiny to not realise

So naïve I was in this game of love
Without a word she went yonder
Never to look back and it hurt me so
To watch her thus that I hid my soul
As the rains lashed I drank it all
And I knew it then that my love was gone,

Little could I see, when the sun rose next

I had lost it all, blind I had become!

Wow...this deserves many more reviews. I enjoyed the way you unfolded a story, a woe of sorts, of all the pain and heartache love can entail. Also, it is poetic and free moving. You have my vote ;)
