Hibiscus

Hibiscus

A Poem by Daniel Tucker
"

Sometimes when trying to flatter someone, your mind decides to turn the fancy words up to eleven.

"

A glance of beauty, like a dancing flame,

A light among the dark that sight commends.

A gift, so wild and yet so very tame,

Hibiscus flowers, gentle beauty mends.

A kindness found within each summer's day,

A spirit left to run amongst us, free.

A heart, so pure, that fights to never fray,

Is what you are, what everyone can see.

Your colours, bright, will never fade to dark,

Your vividness will surely lend my eyes.

Your imperfections make the perfect mark,

The one that sticks, I swear I tell no lies.

This flower showed itself to me, one sight,

And I became a fan of you that night.

I can appreciate harsh criticism, and I don't have a belief that any of this writing is worthy of being called a masterpiece. I would like to further my writing ability though, so feel free to tear this poem apart, or appreciate it, it's up to you!

I want to explore a format of expression that just always came natural to me. I'm a oddity among my peers and I'm trying to figure out my purpose, maybe if I put my thoughts out there and my raw emoti.. more..
