Shine On

Shine On

A Chapter by Timothy Ryan

All that is gold does not glitter. Beneath all the rubble, all the
dirt, all of that hurt that covers obvious beauty, we were once shining
bright. Those subtle moments in the simple days that meant more than we
could have ever imagined. A glance in my direction, a smile shyly sent
your way. Souls colliding. Set on fire with wild youth, burning our way
through the summer skies and eventually crashing back into earth. Life
has a way of getting us all at one point or another. A disappointment we
couldn't see coming through our short-sighted eyes, some expectations
that we weren't aware we held so high. The sky can fall down, the sun
can fizzle out and memories can get harder to remember as the shine
wears off but you're still gold to me.
