Everlasting

Everlasting

A Chapter by Timothy Ryan

Youth has passed by
And so has every lonely night thinking of you

Time hasn't tarnished a thing

I still see those brown eyes
Wide with wonder

Curious about the world

Leaving the stars dull in comparison

Then come the whispers from that voice
Calling me out of loneliness

The touch from fingertips
Soft
Gentle
Nowhere within reach

I'm out of touch, again

Can you believe it?
All those years ago

I'm as curious as those nights spent talking 'til sunrise
The goosebumps still shiver up my arms
Those stars hanging above still hold our wishes

You know those wishes
The only ones that mattered

The ones made with visions of you

We made a wish that things would never be better
And, unfortunately, that wish came true

I don't want you to know where I was last night

Who I've been or what I was up to

I didn't grow up to be the man of your life

But, I'm still that twenty year-old boy who you knew
