Shiny Things

Shiny Things

A Poem by Renegade

Shiny Things

I don’t see those shiny things

 That money brings

I don’t agree that money trees

 Will set you free

They advertise a pack of lies

That hovers in your ears like flies

Convincing you of what to buy

They’ll satisfy your every need

To convince you that it isn’t greed

A clandestine way to plant a seed

I don’t see those shiny things

 That money brings

I don’t agree that money trees

 Will set you free

They manipulate the human race

To manufacture fears to face

While silently their saying grace

They manipulate through many years

Those limits set by moral piers

To convince humanity

Of the things it really needs

I don’t see those shiny things

 That money brings

I don’t agree that money trees

 Will set you free

Nice job. "They advertise a pack of lies
That hovers in your ears like flies
Convincing you of what to buy"
love that part

This reminds me of a story I read in English class last week. The gold in that story was death. I enjoyed the poem, money isn't everything
