THE CROSSROAD

THE CROSSROAD

A Poem by Rene Velez

the pen feels lighter, I scribe with a fools hand
I am a writer, or at least I think I am,
or try to be, I am filled with words,
within me punctuation marks and apostrophes,
an emotional amputee,
pages stained with black coffee and green tea

an invisible witness in my poetic persistence

which my spirituality has given me
I have gathered enemies to feast on this wounded heart
that ignites a spark, I am on common ground
with this dying art, my soul reaches beyond me

I dance above the flames yet to feel the rain

Gods fingertips have promised me
a love of both fathers I have failed to gain
yet I carry their name like untouched memories

I digress poetically...

Who I love this, one of my favorite pieces now. This describes me so well and the imagery is flawless in my opinion. My favorite line has to be "I have gathered enemies to feast on this wounded heart that ignites a spark, I am on common ground with this dying art.'

lots of emotion locked inbetween these lines... can feel it. I respect the conviction and truth laced, like a language inside a language... great piece indeed!!

write...write on!!

Your poem cries out loud... so full of feelings and emotions. I felt like you were writing at the beginning without knowing that so many hidden feelings would come to the surface. I like the transparency of your poetry.

What an incredible weave of thoughts and emotions, had to run to keep up with you! You pass through various processes here; riding on pain, searching for something you need from sources that live in shadows. But, right or wrong, my feelings are that your words will sing out and be heard coz you do indeeed 'digress poetically' - and beautifully!

Your first stanza is more than fine.

You went in many directions in the poem. Open many good questions. When we look at our life. Sometime hard to find some good.
"I dance above the flames yet to feel the rain
Gods fingertips have promised me
a love of both fathers I have failed to gain
yet I carry their name like untouched memories"
The above words could not be said any better. Thank you for the amazing poem.
