COFFEE HI

COFFEE HI

A Poem by Rene Velez

Purchase at the coffee shop
a few eyes and smiles
greet me as i blend in
with cream and sweet n' low
i sit and sip slow

and then came a question
from a woman beside me
that i didn't know

"What are you writing?"
and i reply...

"I write of sunny days,
the sea and air
or of death and despair
of rainy nights when trees are bare
for struggles and humanity when no one cares
like wondrous old tales left on a rocking chair
from the darkest thoughts to skin so fair
the loves I've shared
and of love impaired
expression is rare
poems i share"

and then she grabs my pen
and on my pad she writes

TELL ME MORE...

A very good poem. I have met many new friends because of my pen and writer tablet in a coffee shop. I like the coffee shops. People seem to be more relax and more willing to share a conversation. Thank you for a excellent poem. I like the way you ended this poem.

... and here I thought she was just going to ask you to pass the sugar....

You can't state a premise any better than that, and to a stranger no less.

I'll have to start drinking coffee again if I keep reading your poems and want to keep up.

Awe such a sweet ending... I really enjoyed this write. Different, a sort of story telling in the poem. Really nice, I love this a lot. :)

I really should spend more time in coffee shops. As cliche as it may sound every time I read your poems, the words you use seem as though they are there for a reason and not just place holders or chosen haphazardly.

This was really really interesting and well done It is a treasure to weave a rhyming story into our everyday life and times. I too feel there is a rhythm to our lives And hear thew music in the memories Bravo .You touch here on something I only usually feel when reading David Lewis Paget. It is rare to be able to do this very rare
