IN TRANSIT

IN TRANSIT

A Poem by Rene Velez

Rahway, sun setting, past Metropark station
complacent in the fading suburban Sunday
moving away from my weekend love
red and orange autumn glow between houses
set in rows, smiles and friendly hello's
while in transit...

rails and ties

i search the happiness in her eyes,
her magic and smile cinematic
crossing bridges as water flows
in it's highways of highs and lows
tugboats in tow...

passed the meadowlands close to home
over the marshes and moss covered stones
a new week i start alone, but

in our hearts we are together.

I love the places and the minds of others that your poetry takes us too. Awesome writing Rene.

The movement written here is unlike the shake and rattle of rail cars. The sacredness and serenity is very settling. Descriptions are stark and vibrantly scribed poet. Your use of alliteration in stanza three is astute, and quite ingenious. The very nature of the writ in its’ entirety is a soothe.

Bravo!

I was there with you, the pretty older lady a few rows back, to the left… she smiled but sensed you were in depth-of-thought.

AW. MAKES ME FEEL SWEET. "IN OUR HEARTS WE ARE TOGETHER" THIS IS VERY ROMANTIC AND DEEP. IT TAKES A REAL MAN TO SAY THAT. LOVE IT!

Great urban poem, and also romantic poem, very well done on both levels :)
The first verse is absolutely deliciously evocative. We can not only see the scene, but feel it.. it's pensive and melancholy but overall has a positive aspect, like the poem itself. Very beautiful, this made me think of similar moments I have had myself :)
"Complacent in the fading suburban Sunday" is really nice, musical and satisfying, beautiful line :)
There is tenderness and appreciation and true romance in this poem, sensitively brought out and portrayed, lovely descriptions, really liked this :)
