MEDIA

MEDIA

A Poem by Rene Velez

she has claws in her allure
recounting wars of the obscure
your every fear she assures
her every attempt is impure

lies like nursery rhymes
a chameleon of the times
she lingers in her crimes
her illusions are sublime

prompts for the screen
to diminish every dream
her reporters dress the scheme
spreading fear by any means

olive branch in hand
she holds Rome like Caesar
the ever elusive creature
exhaling lies like ether

because man can not fathom
the power of the atom
as she walks the winds of soot
trampling countries underfoot

Touching on truisms... its awesome how the press tramples on the First Amendment. The people have the right to know exactly what the press wants them to think and feel.

I liked your take and wonder the source that caused you to go here.

Take care,
Chris

This was wonderfully written. the rhyme of the poem gave it a unique flow. The content of the poem couldnt be truer. The media turns lies into truth and false images into reality. Great write

Stunningly powerful write. Amazing imagery. And your rhythm is perfection as usual.

Great metaphorical piece, full of lines to remember. And, all so true .. you have a really powerful and healthy disregard for media's mess I'm surprised you could write such great phrases! ' a chameleon of the times ~ she lingers in her crimes'

I have learn to dislike the media. Hard to know the truth from a lie. I like this poem. Reporter are all not bad people. Reporters who report the news with honest words and emotion are still around. I like the many strong statements in the poem.
"prompts for the screen
to diminish every dream
her reporters dress the scheme
spreading fear by any means"
Thank you for the excellent poem.

I hate the news. I was crying one night, years ago, when my mother called. When asked why I was crying, I told her that it was the news. I don't watch televsion news or listen to radio news, anymore. I get most of my news from friends and family, but they are guarded reports, because they know how I feel about the news. If the president died or Jesus walked on water, I wouldn't hear about it until tomorrow. I find the best news is worth talking about tomorrow! Great write!!
