WALL STREET

WALL STREET

A Poem by Rene Velez

have you seen it yet?
isn't it clear?
people walking in the street
with the look of fear
as they cheer for the children
on the bridge of tears
and the lepers stake their
claim to the new frontier
rejoiced and revered
where goodness disappeared
where lawyers and their spears
swing from chandeliers
and bleed the careers
of sacrificial volunteers;
hearts for souvenirs,
Jupiter's eclipse
manned by engineers
the Mayan calendar year
floods the inner ear
jobs to shear
for the American auctioneer
to raise the top two percent
for the fiscal year
the eagles feast then they disappear

The worst part of the American way. The good years can be many. But you will peak and fall for a time. Can't always get increases. I remember when a $10 bill was worst something. Today can get you enough gas to get to work. Your words were strong and true. I have seen two bad times for USA in my 53 years of life. Look at history. People can survive. Big business must be wise and plan for the future. Thank you for your wise poetry. You can always make me think.
