WALL STREET

have you seen it yet?
isn't it clear?
people walking in the street
with the look of fear
as they cheer for the children
on the bridge of tears
and the lepers stake their
claim to the new frontier
rejoiced and revered
where goodness disappeared
where lawyers and their spears
swing from chandeliers
and bleed the careers
of sacrificial volunteers;
hearts for souvenirs,
Jupiter's eclipse
manned by engineers
the Mayan calendar year
floods the inner ear
jobs to shear
for the American auctioneer
to raise the top two percent
for the fiscal year
the eagles feast then they disappear

Lets say that the economy does crash. Think of the chaos then. Honestly I think it would be the best thing to happen to mankind since God knows when. But then again I'm a complete anarchist. I really enjoyed the write. It's thought provoking and well written.....xx

Wow. I loved this poem. I agree with Neva--fear seems to be everywhere right now. And for many, the American Dream is a trap or worse. I love how you talked about the fear and the sense of the powers that be. Exceptional write!

I feel that sense of fear everywhere, it is in the eyes of many. Scared eyes with questions mounting higher and higher each day. What will become of us? Will we even be here? Will our world turn inside out and explode? Will jobs and taxes even matter? The smell of fear burns our nostrils.....An excellent thought provoking and incredibly powerful piece Rene.
