THE COSMOS

THE COSMOS

A Poem by Rene Velez

I close my hand and manhandle the universe
shift and move galaxies into formidable frenzies
of light mutating matter to new forms of life

new stars to birth, the comets will surf,
gases dispersed to quench a thirst universal
I, the metaphysical of the verse

solar welts, stretched asteroid belts,
suns with spiritual forms are knowingly felt
stars will melt...

the cards of life when dealt
I have knelt in awe in the presence
of Celestial birth's, a curse
to witness through my eyes on Earth
immersed...
in all it's glory

That's why I love sailing at night. On the ocean, 20 - 30 miles offshore, I could see galaxies, clusters, satellites... Try these: manhandle; I, the metaphysical God of verse...

See if you can find this poet: Fernando Passoa. I know you'll feel an immediate affinity for him.

The night sky is beautiful far from the city. I was lucky. Army took me to some lonely places far from the cities. Watching the night sky kept me busy. The mystery of this universe is many for the wise man to see. I like how you described the stars and comets. Thank you for a excellent poem.
