NO COLOR

NO COLOR

A Poem by Rene Velez

Who knows why colors were made,
where they come from, why we
need to see them...it seems
as if life has no need for them,

it is a gift of the mighty unknown,
to see the colors of a rainbow,
a stream where clear water flows,
trees shifting their colors in the fall,
prayer flags on the hills of Nepal,

the majesty of late night stars,
it may sound cliche, but have you
seen a bird of paradise in display?
the mist of a waterfall?

tropical fish like summer bouquets,
blue skies reflecting off the ocean,
sights that open hearts and stir emotion,

life has it's appetite for simple delights,
only for hungry eyes, but we choose
to see the world in black and white.
