PATIO CHAIRS

PATIO CHAIRS

A Poem by Rene Velez

I can see it in your eyes,
reminiscing of us,
of happier times,
but you never shared
those thoughts with me,

I, sat alone
in your memories,
wondering how to fix,
the thing in you
that was broken,
when I was the one,
in need of repair,

breaking out of your stare,
no longer rocking
on the patio chair,
silently, you head inside,
leaving me outside,
once again,

a silence so deafening
the only question, now,
is when do we find
freedom from our
road of discontent.

where love is a thing,
that rarely wins.
